MUA Power Pouts

MUA Power Pouts in Justify, Broken Hearted, Irreplaceable and Crazy In Love

Bare lips

Top row: Justify and Broken Hearted
Bottom row: Irreplaceable and Crazy In Love

Here are the lip swatches of the MUA Power Pouts I have! How beautiful are they? I'm especially loving Justify because it's the one that surprised me the most. I was expecting this almost garish orange (I bought it to warm up the other shades if I wanted to), but it's a subtle coral, and suits me quite well. These lip crayons are just £3 each, pigmented, moisturising, and leave a stain (I read that they didn't stain, so was pleasantly surprised because I love long lasting products). If you don't like how glossy they are, you can dab your lips with a tissue so you're just left with the stain.

So far, these get a big thumbs up from me!

Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balms

Bare lips

Pink Blossom

Hibiscus

Rose

Top: Bare lips, Pink Blossom
Bottom: Hibiscus, Rose

I've had the Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Blossom for months, but when I heard Super Smoocher was having a closing down sale the other day, I decided to try some other shades. The Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balms are normally £5.99, but I bought Hibiscus and Rose for £3 each. I'm gutted that Super Smoocher is closing down; it was the place where I bought all of my natural lip balms from. Unfortunately, when I had a look at the sale, all of the Crazy Rumours lip balms were sold out. I wanted to stock up on the amazing flavours! Anyway, even though these lip balms are more expensive than others, they're 100% natural, the packaging is great (if a little excessive), they give a nice tint, and are moisturising. They're very sheer, but because my lips are quite pale, they show up nicely. I was expecting Hibiscus and Rose to be more pink, but Hibiscus is more of a nude, and Rose is orange toned. When I first wore Pink Blossom, I didn't like how glossy it was - My usual Vaseline Rosy Lips stick lip balm has more of a satin finish, which I love. However, I'm used to it now, and I know a lot of people love glossy lips.

Overall, I really like these lip balms. There's not much more to say, really!

Figs & Rouge Cherry Blossom Tinted Lip Balm

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
Natural lighting, flash

As soon as I laid eyes on the new lip balms from Figs & Rouge, I knew I had to try one. The other two varieties, Coco Rose and Mocha Orange, are shimmery, so I gave them a miss. Cherry Blossom sounded right up my street though.

How beautiful is the packaging? I think it's the prettiest product I own. The scent is delicious. It smells like sweets, but I can't pin point which ones. I thought it was going to smell more floral, so I was pleasantly surprised. As you can see in the third photo, the formula is thick, which I was pleased about. This means it stays on longer than other liquid lip balms. It's also tinted, and I love tinted lip balms. My lips are a very pale pink, so even this subtle tint shows up on me. I'm not sure how pigmented it will be on darker lips though.

This lip balm is normally £4.95, but it's currently on offer for £3.96 on the Feel Unique website (click here to view). They also have free delivery on all products. Although it's more expensive than your standard lip balm, I definitely think it's worth it. It's 100% natural, beautifully packaged, smells delicious, tinted, stays on for hours, and works. If the new Cherry Blossom hand cream smells like this, I'll be purchasing that too!

Stocking Filler: ChapStick Hot Lips Kit

Photobucket Photobucket

Another product that entered the trolley while food shopping the other night was this cute tin of lip balms from ChapStick. For £3.50, you receive a patterned tin containing cherry, strawberry, and apple lip balms. There was a variety of designs to choose from, but I settled on this pretty floral one. I think it would make a great stocking filler or extra present for someone. I may go back and buy a couple more! You can buy them from Tesco and Asda, but I'm not sure where else.

Enjoy your evening!

Figs & Rouge balms

Pomegranate - £4.95 from Feel Unique and Super Smoocher.
Rambling Rose - £3.49 from Feel Unique and £3.50 from Super Smoocher.
Feel Unique and Super Smoocher offer free delivery to UK addresses with any purchase. Boots also sell Figs & Rouge balms.

I've been loving these 100% natural and organic balms from Figs & Rouge (They will be making an appearance in my 'New Favourites' post - Keep an eye out!). The packaging is absolutely beautiful, and I must admit, one of the reasons that encouraged me to purchase them! The scents are great, too. The pomegranate balm has a subtle fruity scent. Rambling Rose has a stronger scent and smells similar to turkish delight. They have a grainy texture in the tins, but once they come in to contact with your skin, they are smooth. I've been using them on my face at night once or twice a week as a deep moisturising treatment. Because they are balms, they do leave a greasy residue on the skin, which is why I use them at night (Or during the day if I use them on my lips). I don't normally like tinned lip balms, but these are clear and suitable for the body, so I don't mind wiping the excess on my arm.
I've already used quite a bit of the Rambling Rose balm, so I may have to repurchase it in the near future!

Bargain Buys Of The Week

I technically bought the first item 11 days ago and the second 5 days ago but they both arrived this week. Also, 'bargain' has connotations of something amazing but these are pretty standard; I just wanted a catchy title!
I'm really selling this post aren't I?!

I wanted a mini tripod so I can take better photos of products. I don't need a large one at the moment because I don't do outfit posts yet. I also don't know how to set my camera on timer to take full length outfit photos!
I know you can buy cheap tripods from a lot of places but if you're interested, I bought mine here for 99p including delivery. It stands at just 13.8cm tall so don't expect it to be very big! It's the perfect size for what I need it for though.

Swizzel Matlow Sweet Flavour lip balms from Debenhams. These were originally £7-10 but were on offer for £3.50. I also had a discount code so paid £3.15 including delivery. I didn't need these but I love novelty lip products! The Double Lollies one smells of pineapple, which is delicious but not a smell I'd associate with Double Lollies? The Refresher lip balm is lemon scented so smells like a Refresher bar. The Drumstick one is vanilla scented and kind of smells like Drumsticks. The Double Dip is cherry scented but also smells of sherbet so the scent is spot on. The Rainbow Drops lip balm is strawberry scented and smells generally sweet.
I love good old chemically sweet smells ;)

Hurraw! Lip Balms

I ordered these from Super Smoocher, a website home to 100% natural lip balms. To read a review of the website and Crazy Rumours lip balm in French Vanilla, click here.

Lime, Grapefruit, Tinted Cinnamon.

These are £3.45 each. I LOVE the packaging; the simplicity, the little image of the scent and the shape. These are oval which for some reason, really amuses me!

Like with most lip balms I've tried, these moisturise well. Saying that, I don't have dry lips so every lip balm I've tried does the job nicely.

The Lime and Grapefruit scents are more subtle than I imagined and smell like Starburst sweets. To be honest, I was a little disappointed as I was expecting strong, citrus scents which could be detected from across the room. However, they still smell great, I just had different expectations. Out of the two, Lime is my favourite just because I prefer the scent of Lime! and also because it smells stronger.

The Cinnamon one however, smells very strong! But not in an overpowering way. When applied, it makes your lips tingle like a lip plumping product would. The tint it gives to your lips is very subtle:

(Look at those freckles!) No product on top lip, Tinted Cinnamon lip balm on the bottom.

Overall, I like these lip balms and am interested in trying the other scents available.

Super Smoocher - Crazy Rumours lip balm in French Vanilla

I've had this since this morning and although some may think it's too early to review this product, I'm going to. With some products you need to wait a week or two to see the results (Skincare) but with make-up, I think you can make up your mind whether you like a product within minutes.

I purchased this lip balm from Super Smoocher. Super Smoocher is home to natural lip balms of many brands and has free delivery on all orders. The free delivery is fantastic as this is what determines whether I make an online purchase. I ordered Wednesday afternoon, my lip balm was shipped Wednesday evening and it arrived Friday morning; pretty good!
My lip balm arrived in pink tissue paper with pink heart sequins inside. I love love love when companies do little things like this!

Onto the lip balm. Like with the other balms the site has to offer, this is 100% natural. The packaging is cute, almost vintage. It melts onto your lips and keeps them moisturised for a decent amount of time. The scent... I'm in heaven. French Vanilla is a mix of coffee and vanilla. Regular readers know my favourite scent is vanilla and although I don't like the taste of coffee, I adore the smell. This lip balm smells exactly like these two scents. My mum had a sniff and said it smelt like butterscotch, in which she is right. Me and my mum are crazy for butterscotch so maybe this is why I cannot put the lip balm down! Even if it didn't moisturise my lips, I would still constantly use it because it smells amazing.
The lip balm is £3.45, which I think is reasonable.

There are so many other scents I want to try! I've narrowed my list down to:
From Crazy Rumours: Mocha, Cola
and from Hurraw!: Lime, Grapefruit and Cinnamon tinted lip balm.

I definitely recommend the site and Crazy Rumours!

It's the simple things...

Vaseline Rosy Lips Tube.

I love Vaseline Rosy Lips but I never used it as I hate tins of lip balm. The product gets under my nails and I never have anywhere to wipe my finger after applying.

So I was happy to see that Vaseline have brought out tube versions!

You get less product than the tins but personally, this isn't a problem as I know I'll use this more.
The tubes are £1.99, which is more expensive than the tins but again, I don't mind as I will use it more, meaning I'll get more of my moneys worth :)
I also want to get the Cocoa Butter tube.

I'm...

disappointed. I purchased The Little Red Tin from Superdrug today and in my previous post said I would compare it to Vaseline's Rosy Lips. Well I needn't to because this has no colour!
None at all. In the tin it looks all pretty - 'Look at me, I'm tinted and because I'm tinted you would expect me to give your lips a nice rosy tint. Buy me and then I can fool you!'
It has a nice strawberry smell on the plus side but apart from that, it's just like any other lipbalm, and definitely not comparable to Vaseline's Rosy Lips.
Damn you Little Red Tin!

Today's purchases

The little red tin £1.27 from Superdrug
Superdrug have a new lipbalm out! (well this is the first I've seen of it) Their lip balms are like Vaseline but I much prefer these. There's 'The little blue tin' which is the original, 'The little green tin' which contains aloe vera and smells of apple, 'The little pink tin' which contains SPF 15 and now 'The little red tin' which is tinted and smells of strawberries.
I'm going to compare this to Vaseline's Rosy Lips which is the product Superdrug got their 'inspiration' from.

Next up are my free Barry M Dazzle Dusts, thanks to the vouchers in More magazine. It is only one per customer so I got my sister to pick me one up.
Mushroom 51 and Teal 94

In the pot, Mushroom looks like a grey with a few warm brown undertones. On the skin those brown undertones come through and it's beautiful. It also has a few plummy undertones and I don't have anything like this in my collection.
Teal is... well teal haha more of a bright blue though.
I was going to get 'Tan' number 39 but I have colour's similar to it, although I know it's a big hit in the blogging community as it's meant to be a dupe for Mac's eye shadow 'All that glitters'.
First of all I was thinking 'I shall get wearable daytime colours' but afterwards I remembered that I rarely wear eye shadow all over the lid but on my lower lash line instead.
So some of you may think that Teal is a colour I'll hardly use but I will use it more than neutral colours as I love to wear a pop of colour for eye liner.
There were so many to choose from! Might have to go back...
