Candle Belle Mega Melt Box | May 2016

I like May's Candle Belle Mega Melt Box more than April's, thankfully. There's a couple I'm not a fan of, but the rest are lovely. My three month trial has now ended, so I'm able to cancel if I want to, but I'll discuss this at the end. Again, if you'd like to see how Candle Belle compares to Flamingo Candles, click here.

French Lavender | A lavender lover's dream. Top notes of luscious lavender are complemented by Italian bergamot, eucalyptus leaves, citrus zest, clary sage, nordic pine, cool camphor, and lily of the valley. The smell of lavender makes me urge, so I haven't even opened this one! Off to a great start, aren't we? It gets better!

Raspberry Ripple | A fantastic, creamy scent. Ripe, sweet raspberry top notes combine with strong, true vanilla ice cream middle notes, and subtle hints of coconut and toasted meringue. It's no surprise that I like this one. The vanilla ice cream notes are more prominent than the raspberry, and I'd like it more if the raspberry was stronger, but it admittedly smells like the sweet treat.

Home Sweet Home | Top notes of cinnamon and clove are complemented by delicate hints of rose, ylang ylang and freshly brewed tea. This homely scent is sure to create a welcoming atmosphere in any space. This is the other one I probably won't be burning. I don't really like clove, and tend to stay away from warm, spicy scents.

Red Delicious | This strong and true apple scent is simply amazing. A juicy and sweet fruit fragrance, set against verdant greenery. I prefer the Granny Smith melt for its tartness, but this is also good. It really does smell like an apple, and it's so much better than Flamingo Candles' offering of an apple scent.

Vanilla Chai | Just the right amount of gourmet chair tea leaves and vanilla milk, with hints of perky ginger and sweet cinnamon. A hearty scent, perfect for cosying up with a loved one on a chilly night. So, you know I'm not one for warm scents, but this is actually okay. The ginger is more prominent than the cinnamon.

Loving Spell | A gorgeous parfum based scent. Tantalising and complex, leading with sweet mandarin, bergamot and tangerine, middle notes of fresh peach, strawberry and raspberry, all set against musk. I really, really like this one. It basically smells like tropical juice!

Lemon Meringue | Top notes of natural, true lemon, balanced with comforting bakery tones reminiscent of a perfect pastry crust, and just a hint of toasted meringue. Smells good enough to eat. Of course I was going to love this one! Lemon meringue is one of my favourite desserts. It smells like the real thing, and I'm currently smelling it on an empty stomach, which is torture.

Balmy Beaches | Recreate the ultimate beach experience with this nostalgic floral scent. A balmy breeze of sweet orange flower, lemony citrus, fresh lavender and powder musk. This one is okay, and I'll burn it in small pieces, but it's not my favourite. The floral notes are very heavy.

Baby Powder | Delicate citrus tones unfold to reveal a blend of soft florals in this innocent fragrance. A velvety base of musk and powdery sweetness lingers for a soothing undertone. I've had baby powder scents from a few wax brands, and I don't usually love them because they can be quite heavy, but this surprised me. It's sweeter and more uplifting than baby powder tends to be.

I love having a subscription box delivered each month, and would highly recommend Candle Belle's one, but I've cancelled mine. This is simply because I own far too many now. Before this, I was subscribed to Flamingo Candles for a while, and I also have a few jars filled with Yankee Candle and Marshmallow Blends melts. I have placed one last order with Candle Belle, though, with the scents I've yet to receive and really want to try. You can buy a one off bundle, with nine scents of your choosing, for £12.50. Each melt is 50g, so you're really getting a lot for your money. If you decide to try them, you won't be disappointed.

Candle Belle Mega Melt Box | April 2016

My second Candle Belle box arrived this week, which was a welcomed delivery. Overall, this month's scents aren't my favourite, but I'll get into those individually in just a moment. If you would like to see how the Mega Melt Box compares to Flamingo Candles' offerings, click here.

Spring Tulips | This naturally clean and bright scent perfectly captures the essence of a field of tulips on a dewy spring morning. A simple, strong and true fragrance which is easy to love. It's not that easy for me to love because I'm not a fan of strong floral scents. I think it could be okay in very small doses, though, so I'm not going to pass it on.

Pink Candyfloss | Similar to a popular sugary perfume, this playfully soft fragrance leads with notes of candyfloss, vanilla, musk and light florals. Very popular with the young, and young at heart. I'm a fan of this one. It's clearly sweet, but the light florals keep it from being too sickly.

Red Velvet | Top notes of dark chocolate, strawberry syrup and red currant combine with middle notes of cocoa, buttermilk, sugar cane and true vanilla extract, to recreate the perfect red velvet aroma. To my sister and I, this smells like drumstick lollies. It's the berry notes with the buttermilk and vanilla which make this smell like one of my favourite sweets.

West Country Cider | A welcoming aroma of hot cider, spiced with sweet cinnamon, warm caramel, cloves and nutmeg. The perfect hug in a mug. This one isn't bad, and I can see many people liking it. I just prefer fresh, fruity, and sweet scents over warm and spicy ones.

Indian Sandalwood | Beautifully true and potent sandalwood with a warm, rich and earthy aroma. This scent has striking wood base notes which soothe and relax the senses. A very popular spa type fragrance. Again, it's warm and has a heavy floral side to it, so it's not my cup of tea.

Orange Dreamsicle | Luscious fresh frozen orange juice, encasing sugary sweet vanilla ice cream. This perfect "joker" will evoke memories of childhood visits to the seaside, with ice cream dripping down your hand. I love the scent of orange, and I love the scent of vanilla, so I was always going to like this. However, I'm not in love with it, and I think it's the two scents combined which remind me of something not so pleasant from my childhood. Maybe I was sick after eating something which smelt similar? I'm not sure.

Caribbean Dream | An exotic blend of coconut and juicy pineapple, complemented by base notes of vanilla ice cream. Close your eyes and be transported to a tropical paradise. Possibly my favourite in the box. It smells exactly as described (like they all do), and I love pineapple.

Cotton and Blossoms | A fresh, breezy scent with top notes of clean cotton, mandarin blossoms, freesia and peonies, complemented by a sweet and subtle blend of jasmine, violet and gardenia. Very fresh and clean. It's perfect for the home, and a scent I like, but I have one like it from every other brand.

Hot Summer Night | A classic, manly cologne fragrance, liable to evoke memories of steamy holiday romances. A seductive blend of amber, citrus, berries, sandalwood and black pepper, set against a base of green leaves and ylang ylang. Now I don't have anything like this in my collection! Not my favourite, but I think I'll like it in very small doses.

The Mega Melt Box is £11 a month with free delivery, and can be found here.

Candle Belle

I was subscribed to Flamingo Candles for 10 months, and I loved it, but my wax melts were beginning to build up and scents were starting to repeat themselves. It was said that this would happen, and it's understandable, so it's nothing against them. I just thought it was time to suspend my subscription for a while. Then The Sunday Girl wrote a post about this new box from a brand called Candle Belle, and I had to try them.

Of course, I'm going to compare Flamingo Candles' offerings against this one. They're similar and the only other wax subscription I've had. So, with Flamingo Candles, you receive 8 wax melts, weighing around 30g each, for £10 a month. You receive 9 wax melts, weighing around 50g each, for £11 a month with Candle Belle. You're already getting more for your money here. The other thing I love about Candle Belle is the fact that the melts come in pots. I would use half of my Flamingo Candles melts and be left with the other half in paper, which was less than ideal. I also find the packaging and whole image of Candle Belle to be more appealing. Just look at them! So, my main concern was how the scents would smell. Would they be strong enough? Would they be realistic enough?

They're certainly strong enough in the pots. I'll let you know how well they burn in next month's post, once I've tried them all. The scents are pretty realistic as well, but I'll go into each of those individually. In terms of the March box on a whole, it could have been better, for me personally, but that's what you get with subscription boxes. You'll love some of the scents you receive, and you may not love some. Thankfully, the good outweigh the bad this time, and you'll see which ones I'm referring to below.

Bubblicious | This fragrance will take you back to your childhood and blowing massive pink bubbles with gum. Base notes of sugary vanilla are complemented by strawberry, citrus, coconut and clove. I can never decide if I'm a fan of bubblegum scents, but I have to say Candle Belle have this scent down to a T.

Black Cherry Bomb | A super strong and realistic explosion of luscious black cherries. No question, if you like cherries, you are sure to love this. One of our most popular scents, and not for the faint hearted. Wow! Now this is strong. It's definitely cherry scented, but ever since my mum said it smelt like marzipan, that's what I'm also detecting.

Parfum De Paris | A classic and timeless parfum based scent which has perfectly captured the essence of Paris for over ninety years. Ylang ylang, rose petals and jasmine are set against vetiver and sandalwood. These types of scents aren't my favourite, but I think this will fill the house beautifully in small doses.

Clove Rock | Super strong clove with subtle hints of cinnamon and ginger. Smells just like the boiled sweets sold by a quarter pound. Essential for nights in front of the fire. I'm not a fan of this. It smells like described, granted, but it's not one I like.

Sweet Georgia Peach | This sensational, fruity peach has lingering undertones of sweet orange, honeydew melon, vanilla and musk. Smells like you've just cut into a ripe and juicy Georgia peach. Stunning. Stunning indeed! Peach is one of my favourite scents, and this is incredible. Incredible.

Almond Bakewell | Buttery shortcrust pastry and amaretto liqueur infused sponge, topped with roast almonds. A fabulous bakery fragrance with warming vanilla notes. I'm critical of bakery scents because most of the time they don't smell realistic, and end up making me feel sick. While I'm not going to melt all of this at once because it's so strong, it really does smell like an almond bakewell.

Coconut and Banana | This unique fragrance has top notes of fresh banana, coconut and grapefruit, supported by kiwi fruit, lush strawberries and juicy bubblegum, with just a hint of vanilla. A tropical delight. I like banana, but when it comes to home fragrance? I wasn't convinced. However, it has just the right amount of coconut and grapefruit to make it acceptable. I can't say I have anything like this in my collection either, which is saying something.

Granny Smith | This delicious and true fragrance will bring just one thing to mind; Granny Smith apples. Sink your teeth into its crisp exterior to release undertones of sweet candy, which complete the scent. First of all, I'm impressed with the correct use of 'its'. I've come across material from international brands which has this mistake in. It's a pet hate of mine. Anyway, I was doubtful about this scent because Green Apples from Flamingo Candles smelt like an apple which had been left in the sun for a couple days. I was not a fan. This, however, smells just like Granny Smith apples! It's sour and perfectly tart.

Blue Hydrangea | An electric blue, floral stunner of a fragrance. This fresh and invigorating combination of sun kissed hydrangeas and balmy breezes is guaranteed to bring a little summer inside everyday. Another one I'm not particularly fond of, but again, it smells like the real thing.

I wasn't sure what to expect from a brand I'd heard nothing about before, but I've been pleasantly surprised so far. I just hope they melt well, and don't release all the fragrance within the first burn. Along with the wax melts, you receive some sweets and a card explaining each scent. This card also includes a 20% off discount code. If you're interested in subscribing, take into consideration that you're tied up for a minimum of three months, but you're able to cancel any time after this. If you'd like to take a look, click here. They also sell candles, if wax melts aren't your thing.
