The Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty

I'm taking it back to an old school tag today. The sins don't tie in that well, but I liked the actual questions!

Greed | What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive? 

My most inexpensive item, like many others, would be something from MUA. I'm a fan of a couple of their £1 eyeshadows and lipsticks. I also use their £1.50 eyebrow brush on a daily basis. My most expensive beauty items include Lush's Ro's Argan Body Conditioner (£16.50) and cream blushes from Illamasqua, which I've just looked up and are now £21.50! I only paid £6.75 for them in the sale, though.

Wrath | What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with?

Nail polish. Once it's on, I absolutely love it, but it's the application I hate. I'm a perfectionist, so it takes me hours to do my nails, and even longer if I'm photographing them for a post. For this reason, and the fact that painted nails would last 5 minutes at work, I haven't painted them for nearly a year now. It's crazy because I used to paint them every week!

Gluttony | What are your most delicious beauty products?

I'm going on scent here, and it has to be products from The Body Shop. The Raspberry, Vineyard Peach, and Mango ones, in particular. I also love Figs & Rouge for delicious smelling and cutely packaged products. Their Cherry Blossom Hand Cream is my favourite.

Sloth | What beauty product do you neglect, due to laziness?

It has to be body butter and moisturising in general. When I get out of the shower, I just want to put my pjs on as fast as possible. This is one of the main reasons why I love the Lush Body Conditioners so much, because they're quick and easy to use in the shower.

Pride | What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?

I would have to say mascara and gel liner. I used to neglect eyeliner due to laziness, but with gel liner and the right brush, it's easy to press on in a straight line. 

Lust | What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex? 

A question about the packaging of a product would have been better suited here, I think. I don't have a type, physically, but generally seem to like guys with stubble. I've also liked guys without stubble, though, so it really does depend on the person. Personality wise, I have to be able to have a laugh and playfully tease them. I've been in situations where there's no 'banter' (hate that word), and there's been no attraction.

Envy | What items would you most like to receive as a gift?

Anything that shows the person listens to me and knows what I like. I'd rather receive something inexpensive that was bought based on my tastes rather than something ridiculously expensive that has nothing to do with what I like. For example, I like owls, and around Christmas, there's an owl stall in town. It has real owls and things you can buy, where the money then goes to the owl sanctuary. I've bought a couple things from there in the past. My sister has gifted me things from this stall, and they've been my favourite things, even though they were the cheapest out of all the gifts. I'd rather these than a diamond ring because I simply don't wear rings.

Television | The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

I don't have much of a social life, and prefer to come home to a good TV series. Now, I'm only talking about those (mostly) American, binge watch entire series at once, shows in this post. We'd be here all day else! The shows I watch on a weekly basis, ones like GBBO, The Big Bang Theory, New Girl, 8 Out Of Ten Cats Does Countdown etc, are for another post. I've picked some questions from various tags to answer, and would be intrigued to know yours, too.

What was the first TV show you loved and watched religiously?

Technically, that would have been something like Art Attack, but in terms of a fictional series with a continuous story line, it'd have to be Buffy The Vampire Slayer or Charmed. I loved them so much. An episode of Buffy was on the TV the other day, and I noticed how unrealistic (not that vampires are real anyway) and non scary the vampire makeup was, but back in the day, it definitely was!

What are your favourite shows?

Chuck, Dexter, The Killing, The Originals, Prison Break, Desperate Housewives, The Vampire Diaries, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Orange is The New Black, 90210, CSI, Criminal Minds, Bones... the list goes on.

Chuck is probably in my top three because it was full of action, sometimes funny, and I just loved Chuck. 

The Originals is a spin off of The Vampire Diaries, and I like it more because Klaus is in it. I'd definitely recommend watching it if you're a fan of TVD!

Some episodes of CSI and Criminal Minds can be a bit pants, but the good ones are really good. I prefer Criminal Minds over CSI because it has more psychos in. I don't know what that says about me.

What shows weren't you so keen on?

Okay, everyone seems to rave about True Blood, and it has high ratings, so I thought I'd give it a go. I couldn't get through the first episode, it was so comical. I then skipped about 4 seasons, and it was better, but still not great. I didn't find the acting good, and I couldn't stand the accent. 

Homeland was okay, but I found it too slow paced and boring, so haven't continued watching the new series. It didn't help that I started watching it after Prison Break, which is full of action.

Supernatural was another I loved, but started to become bored of. I didn't care if someone died because, chances were, they'd come back anyway.

Pretty Little Liars. I'm bored of it now. I still watch it, but I'm not gripped, and end up laughing at the things A does.

American Horror Story. I really liked the Asylum series, and the others were okay, but I just didn't love them like everyone else.

Dexter. I LOVED Dexter, but the ending annoyed me. Apart from that, though, the series was fantastic.

What are you currently watching?

I've just finished The Killing, which I loved. I'm now 5 episodes into True Detective, which is okay. I'm finding it a little boring at the moment, but hoping it gets better.

What do you want to watch next?

Revenge has high ratings, and despite it looking cheesy, I think I'm going to watch that next. Please leave your suggestions below, though!

Colours of the Rainbow Tag!

I had seen this tag doing the rounds, and when Laura tagged me, I thought I'd have a go myself! For this tag, you simply pick a product for each colour of the rainbow (plus pink). It can be the packaging that's coloured, or the product - whatever you choose! I actually found this pretty hard. I wanted to stay away from nail polishes because I've already done the Favourite Nail Polishes - Rainbow Edition post. I also wanted to pick a variety of products, not 4 or 5 shower gels.

So, for the colour red, I've chosen one of my eBay brushes (you can see my post on them here). For £1.54 (they're now around £2.55), I'm very pleased. It's soft, dense, doesn't shed, and washes well. I've been using it for my powder blushes.

For orange, I picked The Body Shop's Mango Body Mist. I love fruity scents, especially mango, so this is perfect. 

I've cheated a little with yellow because there's hardly any yellow on it! But it's the best I had, and I wanted to pick products I actually use and love. This is The Body Shop's Mango Hand Cleanse Gel. I love it! It smells just like the other mango products, and lives in my bag (I have the other scents laying around the house). I reviewed this, and the other scents, here.

I just had to pick Original Source's Lime Shower Gel for green. I've used this for years. I told you I love fruity scents!

For blue, I picked Nivea's Express Hydration Primer. I've been using this for... over 8 months now, and I've still got over half left. It's very thin compared to the Witch primer, but it works (I reviewed it here).

Maybelline's Rocket Mascara isn't exactly indigo, but it's the closest product I had. I've only been using this for the last couple of weeks, but really like it. It separates my lashes and defines them. I've also been using the Mega Plush one, which is great, but I think I prefer the Rocket because it's not as feathery, so gives a little more definition. 

I chose Cutex's Nourishing Nail Polish Remover for violet. It's my favourite nail polish remover, and all I use now. It does the job and smells nice for a nail polish remover (like vanilla).

I picked Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey for pink (swatched here). It's my favourite lip product, and one of the few I wear to its full intensity.

The Vampire Diaries Tag

Good afternoon! I started watching The Vampire Diaries last month and finished the current 66 episodes in 6 days. I can't get enough of it, so decided to do this tag! It's actually a YouTube tag, made by Ingrid and Joey, but I thought I'd participate in blog post form :)

1. How did you discover the show? It's been out for years, so I just generally knew of it.

2. Who's your favourite character? This is hard! I like all of them, but I especially like Damon, Jeremy, Tyler, Caroline and Lexi. I also really like Matt - I feel sorry for him and want to give him a hug!

3. If you were a vampire, would you live on human or animal blood? I love animals, so couldn't kill them! I would live on human blood, but it would be from a blood bank. If I was a vampire though, my decisions would probably be different from the ones I've just discussed because I would think differently.

4. Team Stefan or team Damon? At first, I was team Stefan, and I think Stefan is better looking, but I'm now team Damon. I love his character so much. His personality makes him attractive (And his looks help ;)).

5. What's your favourite supernatural power? I've always wanted to have the ability to pause time. Casting spells would be cool too because you could do a variety of things.

6. If you were to be a character, who would you be? I'm going to be predictable and say Elena. Two men are in love with her - I want to be loved!

7. Have you read the book series? No. I was going to, but I haven't got round to it.

8. Who's your crush on the show? There's so many good looking people in The Vampire Diaries! I really like Jeremy. I wouldn't say no to Damon or Stefan either. Or Tyler... Or Mason, if he was still alive.

9. What was your first initial thought of the show and did it change after watching it? I always thought it would be cliche and cheesy because the vampire genre has been so overdone. That's why it took me so long to start watching the show. The first episode didn't change my mind - Girl loses parents, girl meets mysterious boy who comforts her etc. However, after watching all three seasons, I love it. It's much darker than I thought it would be, which is great.

10. Who was your favourite villain? I like Katherine. At first, I despised her, but since The Originals came along, I've realised that she's not too bad. Also, I sometimes like Klaus. When he fell for Caroline and drew her that picture, it was the cutest thing!

The Hunger Games tag

I watched Joey Graceffa and Alex Carpenter do this tag, and whilst listening to their answers, I was thinking of my own, so thought I'd turn it in to a blog post! They just referred to the first book, which is what I'm going to do too because I've only read the first one! The other two are currently in the post.

1. What is your favourite book in The Hunger Games trilogy?

Well, I've only read the first one, so... the first one!

2. How long would you last in The Hunger Games?

I get cold easily and hungry fast, so probably not long! If I was raised in one of the districts, I'd probably last a lot longer though, because I would be trained (If raised in the lower numbered districts) or used to having little food (If raised in the higher numbered districts).

3. What was the strangest thing you thought was going to happen in the book, but didn't?

At first, I thought Gale was going to be chosen as a tribute, along with Katniss. I just thought that it would bring an obstacle to the book because they wouldn't want to kill each other. Then, Katniss' and Peeta's relationship develops and this obstacle comes around anyway.

4. How were you introduced to The Hunger Games?

I actually only found out about The Hunger Games a few weeks ago. Everyone was talking and raving about it, so I wanted in! I've heard some people say: "People are only reading The Hunger Games because everyone else is and because the film is coming out" - And? There's nothing wrong with following something good! I'm not going to deprive myself of a great series just because I don't want to be like everyone else.

5. Favourite moment that happens in The Hunger Games?

I love the moment when Katniss goes searching for Peeta and finds him in the mud, and you can just see his teeth smiling at her. I felt a lot more relaxed after she found him because they were no longer alone. I also felt like they were less vulnerable together, even though Peeta could barely walk!

6. Favourite villain?

I can't say a Career tribute, because they're not really the villains in this. I would have to say the people in charge of The Hunger Games. Evil people.

7. Who is your favourite character?

I'm going to be obvious and say Katniss. The book is told through her eyes, so we know her the most, and we are able to share her experiences.

8. What district would you live in?

I would like to live in District 1. The closer you are to the Capitol, the wealthier you are. Also, if I was chosen as a tribute, one of the Careers would volunteer to take my place (Unless I was raised as a Career myself).

9. What was the most emotional moment in the book for you?

At the end, when it was announced that there would not be two winners - The realisation that Katniss and Peeta would not be leaving the arena together.

10. What item from home would you bring into the arena with you?

I don't know! I don't have an item that means the world to me. Maybe a necklace from my nan or mum?

11. What was the most evil plan someone made in the book?

The people in charge of The Hunger Games telling the lie that two people from the same district are both able to win if they are the last ones remaining.

12. What are you looking forward to the most in the film?

Just seeing the characters in my head come to life. I've already seen some photos and Peeta looks just like I imagined him to be. I really hope the film does the book justice!

10. Have you ever been to a different country? Yes; France, Holland and Germany.

11. Do you like sushi? Not really. I tried it the other month because I was curious and it's just cold, molded rice with a bit of fish.

12. Where do you buy your groceries? Asda, Tesco, and Farm Foods.

13. Have you ever taken medication to help you fall asleep faster? Nope.

14. How many siblings do you have? 1 sister. She's 15, nearly 16.

15. Do you have a desktop computer or a laptop? Desktop computer but I really want a laptop!

17. Do you wear contacts or glasses? No.

18. Do you colour your hair? No. I've coloured it once, and that was 1 1/2 years ago because I wanted a change. I let it grow out after 4 months.

19. Tell me something you are planning to do today... Finish my English coursework and paint my nails :)

20. When was the last time you cried? Probably this week.

21. What is your perfect pizza topping? Spicy chicken or ham and pineapple.

22. Which do you prefer- hamburgers or cheeseburgers? Cheeseburgers!

23. Have you ever had an all-nighter? Yes.

24. What is your eye colour? Brown.

25. Can you taste the difference between Pepsi and Coke? No. I'm not a huge fan of fizzy drinks; I much prefer milkshakes or juice.

I think that's pretty good! I regularly change my blush and mascara; my other blushers are more expensive but my other mascaras are less expensive so it averages out.

I also don't wear the eye liner and lip balm everyday so the total is normally cheaper.
